Country legend and all around music legend George Strait brought his Cowboy Rides Away tour to the Prudential Center in Newark New Jersey last week, to what must have been a sold out house.
George Strait performed a 33 song setlist which covered his whole career, and had opener Martina McBride join him for two duets.
George Strait was as cool as he has ever been, rarely moving from one of 4 microphones set up on each corner of the stage in the center of the arena floor. This does not mean that he stood there emotionless throughout the night. Mr. Strait is the type of performer who gets more out of inflection and just plain emotion, than most singers.
I had hoped for years to get the chance to see him live, and was not disappointed. His effortless charm helped make the show one I will remember for a long time.
Martina McBride was the opening act, and she performed a set which included many of her hits and a few songs from her recent CD's also. her voice sounded as good as it ever has.
Here are the setlists for both Martina McBride and George Strait.
