Ex Doobie Brother Michael McDonald performed at the Count Basie Theatre on Mother's Day, yet surprisingly made no mention of the holiday. However, surprising that was, his performance, and band, were first rate. His band consisted of Bernie Chiaravelle on guitar, Dan Needham on drum, Drea Rhenee on vocals, Mark Douthit on Saxophone and Keyboards, Pat Coil on keyboards and Jacob Lowery on bass.
Ms. Rhenee dueted on On My Own and Takin' It To The Streets, as well a providing harmony vocal throughout. Michael McDonald primarily stuck to the piano except for a 3 song run where he played guitar.
The performance consisted mainly of his solo work, with a few Doobie Brothers songs included.
