The Time Jumpers-Count Basie Theatre 11/19/2014

Last night The Time Jumpers performed at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank New Jersey. It was an amazing show.
The Time Jumpers are a band made up primarily of some of the best session musicians out of Nashville. They perform regularly in Nashville and have a rotating line-up of some of the best musicians around.
For this tour the line-up consists of Brad Albin on bass, Larry Franklin,Kenny Sears and Joe Spivey all on fiddle and vocals, "Ranger Doug" Green on guitar and vocals, Paul Franklin on steel guitar, Andy Reiss on guitar, Billy Thomas on drums and vocals, Jeff Taylor on accordion and piano, and Vince Gill on guitar and vocals. Dawn Sears is also listed on this tour but was not present at this show.
The music consisted primarily of Texas Swing and country blues. The most well known member of the band is country legend Vince Gill. But this was not a Vince Gill show, but a true jam session where each performer was given plenty of solos throughout the night and each were given the spotlight at some point. If you did not know that Mr. Gill was in the band, you probably would not have noticed him right away since the focus was truly on the band as a whole.
But the performance was not ragged at any point. The "in unison" fiddle arrangements, the perfect vocal harmonies, the solos going seamlessly one into another, showed how professional and well rehearsed the players are. But as with all great musicians, mastering their craft only makes them better when the time did come for improvisation.
The setlist consisted of a few originals, a handful of country classics and even one Vince Gill song, Liza Jane, to close out the show.
Kenny Sears handled most of the MC duties and did so effortlessly. To be honest, Vince Gill was the only member of the band I had heard of before reading their bios on the Time Jumpers website, but I will happily see them again, even if Vince Gill does not tour with them next time around.

Unfortunately I do not know the name of the instrumental piece which opened the show. I also included as many of the names of lead vocalists next to the songs. Here's the setlist:
